2016 Here I Come...

December 26, 2015
2016 Is already shaping up to be very interesting for me in my "art world". With my studio renovations finally complete, and my last day as President of Wiregrass Gallery being December 31st, I have already booked a major Apalachicola, FL 2016 Plein Air Event and the Alabama Wildlife Federation 2016 show. My plans this coming year are to finish moving into my new studio and work towards completing several new works for submission to various national competitions. 2016 Here I Come...

New Studio - New Year

November 3, 2015
2015 has been a year of much transition for my family. With a major relocation from Alabama to Georgia behind us, we are settling in to our new home. I am undertaking the remodeling of a new art studio to house all of my "art world".  Voted to be the 2015 President of the Wiregrass Gallery in Thomasville, my focus for the year has been to move the Gallery forward with positive energy and changes.  With 2016 looming on the horizon, I am looking forward to involving myself in more nationally recognized artistic endeavors.

Victorian Christmas in Thomasville GA

December 11, 2014
It's that time of year again...when we all are hustling to prepare for the Christmas holiday season. This year finds me heavily involved in preparation for my first "Victorian Christmas" event in Thomasville, GA.  With an estimated 30,000 visitors flocking to the downtown center of Thomasville we have created new small works of art for gift giving as well as "special works" for that "special person" on your  list. Victorian Christmas is Thursday and Friday evening (Dec. 11th & 12th) 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Stop by the Wiregrass Gallery on Broad Street next door to "Q" Restaurant and see what we have to offer...Merry Christmas to All!

New Friends - New Fun in Thomasville, GA

August 30, 2014
My relocation to Thomasville, GA, has resulted in a whirlwind of activities in my life. I am thrilled to say that (In addition to being represented by Littlehouse Galleries in the Birmingham, AL area) I will also be represented by Wiregrass Gallery in Thomasville. If you are in the area, please stop by the gallery on Broad Street and say hello. I just completed a new 16 x 20 inch still life painting that I will be installing at Wiregrass Gallery today. A couple of art events that I will be involved in during the month of September are TCA FLAUNT 2014 where I will have a very large 8.5 ft. x 10.5 ft. historic inspired mural on exhibit (outdoors in downtown Thomasville) and I will be conducting a live painting demonstration on location for the residents of the Woodleaf Retirement Community (Thomasville)...how wonderful it is to make new friends and have new fun!

Georgia Bound

June 5, 2014
My husband and I are relocating to Thomasville, Georgia.  A lovely small town where I was born and raised...where the tall pines and plantations are still abundant.  With beautiful historic Victorian homes and oak canopied streets, the true "southern culture" is alive and well.  The arts community in Thomasville is growing more vibrant with every passing year. I am looking forward to continuing my work and growing my artistic skills in this new beautifully fertile environment.

About Me and My Art

Diane Gibson Newsome - Fine Art Other artists that I know ask me how it is that I make myself paint every day...my answer is always "I don't make myself paint. I have to make myself not paint." Painting is like breathing to me...I can't do without it. I absolutely love to paint and I cannot get enough of it! -DGN
