Diane Gibson Newsome produces representational art. Her style may best be described as "Impressionistic Realism". The paradox of perceived detail produced by abstract brush strokes and subtle elements especially intrigues her.  Driven by a strong work ethic and love for painting, she is striving to refine her own approach to creating a three dimensional illusion through texture and sculpting with paint.  Working primarily in oils with brush and palette knife, she appreciates the vivid and luminous quality of this medium. 

 

Newsome credits encouraging parents and grandparents for instilling an intense love and appreciation for nature in her at a very early age.   The property that houses her current art studio/gallery is a (National Wildlife Federation) Certified Wildlife Habitat in South Georgia. An ardent equestrian, gardener and wildlife enthusiast, her focus is on capturing the fabulous and unique essence of wildlife/nature subjects on canvas. She most recently has enjoyed creating unique commissioned portraits of people that include their beloved animals. The conveyance of the intangible emotional part of a painting is of paramount importance to her. With her paintings, she endeavors to communicate to the viewer uplifting feelings of a "sense of place" as well as the "quality of light".

 

Newsome was honored to be selected by Art Galleries and Artists of the South (AGAS Magazine Page 81)  (the PASS PHRASE FOR THIS AGAS link is agasonline2) to be featured in the Vol. 10 Issue 3 publication in December, 2013.
